Romantic Strolls

You're likely to be as enamored with these areas, as you are with one another. One of William Penn's five original city parks, Rittenhouse Square, has grown into a lush urban park flanked with beautiful statues, a fountain, and plenty of cozy benches. Trendy, upscale restaurants, boutiques and galleries encircle the Square. Nearby Jewelers' Row boasts more than 300 jewelers and designers selling at 30 to 50 percent off retail. A few blocks to the south, Antique Row is a charming area with an eclectic mix of old and new, vintage and modern shopping. It is especially fun on seasonal weekends, when there's a street festival-like atmosphere in the area. There is also Society Hill - a picturesque residential neighborhood with the largest concentration of original 18th and early 19th century architecture of any place in the United States.

Just north of Center City, Forbidden Drive in Fairmount Park is a pedestrian path in the largest landscaped urban park in the U.S. You can stroll along the creek or, to get your heart pumping even more, detour onto 50 miles of rugged trails. Close by, Boathouse Row is an enchanting section of Fairmount Park, which runs along the Schuylkill River.

Philadelphia's suburban neighborhoods also make for ideal romantic destinations. New Hope, a quaint town in Bucks County, just 30 miles north of Center City Philadelphia, is home to funky boutiques, restaurants, and galleries.

Couples can walk along the scenic Delaware River and enjoy the area's vibrant nightlife. Chestnut Hill is an urban village that is home to more than 200 shops, art galleries, antiques stores, and restaurants. Manayunk, just minutes west of Center City, is nestled along the banks of the Schuylkill River and the historic Manayunk Canal. With 50 trendy boutiques and 30 hip restaurants, strolling Manayunk's Main Street is like being whisked away to a European city.
