Looking to the Future

They already say that ‘It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' - but our future is even brighter! The recent completions of the Cira Center and the Comcast Center skyscraper bolstered Philadelphia's available office space by two-million square feet. That number will increase by another 2.2-million square feet if the proposed 1,500-foot tall American Commerce Center is built. More office space means more businesses, which means more jobs!

The Philadelphia metropolitan area ranks 5th in total personal income; its annual per capita income is comfortably above the national average and is on the rise. These numbers will only get better.

Based on estimates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, by 2016, the three fastest-growing industries in Philadelphia will be the Service Industries, Health Care, and Professional/Business Services. Why does this represent such optimism? Because the Bureau also estimates the two fastest growing industries in all of America are the Service Industries and Health Care! Needless to say, the opportunities for young people and recent graduates are plentiful in Philadelphia.

"…Philadelphia is the place to be for young college graduates," says Mayor Michael Nutter. "We are ideally situated…[and] some of the world's leading pharmaceutical and life sciences firms are located right here in Philadelphia, providing jobs for innovative, creative graduates. This is a city that is on the up."
