Make it a vacation of historic proportions! There are plenty of famous Philadelphia attractions and landmarks you can explore for FREE:

  • See Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell Center, Franklin Square, and Carpenter’s Hall all inside “America’s Most Historic Square Mile.”
  • Stop into a church – See Christ Church, where George Washington, Betsey Ross, and Benjamin Franklin worshiped, and the nearby Burial Ground. {Church accepts donations; Burial Ground has a small fee: $1 students, $2 adults, and $10 per group}.
  • As part of Once Upon a Nation, professional storytellers will excite you with historic tales about sites throughout Independence National Historic Park. Keep an eye out for the storytelling benches throughout the Park.
  • Visit the Edgar Allen Poe National Historic Site, where Poe lived and wrote some of his most famous pieces.
  • City Hall is the largest and most elaborate city hall in the country, featuring a 548-foot tower, topped by a 37-foot bronze statue of William Penn.
  • Pose with the Rocky statue at the bottom of the famous Philadelphia Museum of Art steps. Then climb to the top where you can stand inside his foot prints and get an unmatchable view of the Philadelphia skyline.
  • Free Tours by Foot's Freedom Rings in Philly is a FREE, two hour tour that takes you through the cradle of American Democracy entertaining you and revealing hidden secrets, fun trivia and lighthearted anecdotes.
