Sports
Rich traditions and state-of-the-art facilities combine to make Philadelphia the premier American sports town for fans and athletes alike.
We love our sports in Philadelphia. We bleed Eagles green and Phillies red, and we pack the Wachovia Center to root for the Sixers and Flyers. Aside from the four major sports, Philadelphia also cheers for its other professional sports teams, like the KiXX, Phantoms, Wings, Charge, and our newest team, Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union. The city also hosts an abundance of successful collegiate programs (including Big 5 Basketball) and a full calendar of annual and special sporting events - including the Army/Navy Game.
For those who want be athletic and active, a plethora of opportunities extend far beyond the stadiums and arenas. Biking, hiking, blading, and running are just a few popular pastimes that can easily be enjoyed across Philadelphia, considering our city's friendly streets and abundance of beautiful green space. Be sure to run or ride along the new Schuylkill River Park Trail, a 1.2 mile path that follows the rivers curves between Locust Street and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. And don't stop there! If you keep heading north past the Museum, you will discover Fairmount Park, America's largest city park.
Whether you're looking for the hottest pro action or the chance to get in the game yourself, Philadelphia has plenty of ways to offer you a ringside seat.
