Philadelphia Union
The United States has adopted football (soccer) as a major sport and pastime, largely due to Major League Soccer (MLS). MLS was established in 1993 and a few years later in 1996, with 10 teams, became the first professional soccer league in the U.S. Today, MLS is comprised of 16 active teams and its popularity is only increasing with the many team additions to the league.
The Philadelphia Union is MLS’s newest active team and the city of Philadelphia could not be more excited to be a part of Major League Soccer’s 15th season! Whether you are a football fan or not, being a part of the Union’s inaugural season will be something you will not want to miss! The Union’s home opener will be April 10, 2010 vs. D.C. United at Lincoln Financial Field. Be sure to check back for the Philadelphia Union’s full 2010 schedule and see if the Union plays your favorite team, such as Chelsea F.C. with John Terry or Manchester United F.C., in the 2010 summer friendly matches.
