Philadelphia Countryside Itinerary
Half-Day Itinerary:
• Take a trip to the Brandywine Valley, and stop at the Brandywine River Museum, an extensive collection of Wyeth art.
• Experience Longwood Gardens, often called the world’s premier horticultural showplace with more than 1,000 acres of woodlands, majestic gardens, opulent conservatories, and dancing fountains.
• Eat at the Terrace Restaurant, overlooking the grounds at Longwood Gardens.
Make It a Full Day:
• Before returning to Philadelphia, tour the Chadds Ford Winery, Pennsylvania’s largest winery, and sample their varietals.
• Dine at an old-style Italian restaurant in South Philadelphia.
Make It a Weekend: Day 2
• Travel to Valley Forge, home of the Barnes Foundation, the largest private collection of Impressionist art outside of Paris, including works by Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, and many more.
• While in Valley Forge, enjoy lunch at the Old Guard House – a 200 year-old dining fixture for the area.
• History buffs can’t miss the Valley Forge National Historical Park, where George Washington and his troops survived the famed encampment of 1777-78.
• On the way back, stop at the King of Prussia Mall, and browse more than eight department stores, 400 specialty stores and choose from 40 different restaurants, or visit the Philadelphia Premium Outlets, featuring designer brands, fine leather, jewelry and more.
