Philadelphia is a very active city. You can choose from a long list of professional and collegiate sports teams to watch and cheer, or you can get into the action through the city's wide range of recreation activities.



A Cricket Tradition

Philadelphia was the cricket capital of the United States in the late 1800s, and has a number of cricket clubs, including:

  • Philadelphia Cricket Club
  • Germantown Cricket Club
  • Merion Cricket Club
In addition to the private clubs, Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania (just a short distance from downtown Philadelphia) has a museum to the sport of cricket.

Philadelphia's professional sports teams play in three venues at the Sports Complex, four miles (6.4 km) south of the city centre, and in other venues in the region.
