America's Life Science Meetings Destination:
Science, Medicine, and Technology. This is the Place
The Greater Philadelphia Life Sciences Congress is a division
of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau. The successful
collaboration among the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware leaders
in the life sciences industries during the BIO 2005, held at the
Pennsylvania Convention Center, gave birth to this Congress. The Greater Philadelphia Life
Sciences Congress is a dynamic ‘hub,’ connecting leaders in health care, pharma, biotechnologies, government, education, and financial sectors in
order to advance and grow the economy and brand Philadelphia as
"America's Life Science Meetings Destination."
The Greater Philadelphia Life Sciences Congress (GPLSC) was founded in 2006 by Tom Muldoon, president of PCVB; Fritz Bittenbender, vice president of government and corporate affairs, Cephalon, Inc.; James P. Gallagher, PhD, president of Philadelphia University; Mickey Flynn, president, Pennsylvania Biotechnology Association; Sherrill Neff, managing partner, Quaker Bio Ventures; and Allen Myers, M.D., Professor of Rheumatology at Temple University School of Medicine.
The
GPLSC attracts and supports life sciences and health
care convention planners and attendees. GPLSC also
supports the regional life science community and economic development
efforts with programs and special events.
The Bio-Continuum
Prestigious academic and research institutions are peppered throughout the tri-state region. The collection of global pharmaceutical firms and biotechnology companies within the Greater Philadelphia area are noteworthy. Medical schools supply research facilities with talent. They in turn send innovative ideas and products further up the continuum to the biotechnology medical device and pharmaceutical companies. All of these great minds meet on many critical issues. We want these minds to meet in Philadelphia.
